PATIRN is a program established to provide direct legal services to
people trafficked into the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

trafficked persons and what to do next.
Interns working with PATIRN will:
Be responsible for assisting, Melanie Orhant, the staff attorney with
trafficking cases and researching legal issues surrounding
trafficking. Additional work will be given to interns based upon
their experience, motivation and dedication to the issue. Interns
are required to keep detailed and accurate records and maintain
client confidentiality. During the summer interns are required to
work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday from 9-5 for the entire
summer. Internships at Ayuda are unpaid.
PATIRN believes that trafficking affects men, women and children and
that people are trafficked for all types of labor.
Fluency in French and/or Spanish is helpful, but is not essential for
PATIRN. Experience with trafficking in persons, immigration law
and/or criminal law is helpful.
