Plea deal in Berkeley sex-trafficking case
By Henry K. Lee
The San Francisco Chronicle, October 28, 2003

Excerpt:

Just months before trial, the son of a wealthy Berkeley landlord has
dropped a protracted legal fight over his role in a scheme in which
teenage girls from India were smuggled into the United States for sex
and cheap labor, court records show.

Prasad Lakireddy, 44, of Lafayette is scheduled to enter a guilty
plea Friday before U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken in Oakland as
part of a plea bargain, according to court papers.
