COUNTER-TRAFFICKING IN THE BALKANS:
A FIELD PERSPECTIVE
IREX invites you to attend a forum on human trafficking in the Balkans.
Speakers will include government and nongovernmental representatives
from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia,
Romania, and Serbia and Montenegro working to combat trafficking in
their countries. Presentations will provide an on-the-ground perspective
on the complex problem of human trafficking in the region as well as
current and proposed government and nongovernmental initiatives being
implemented to prevent trafficking and provide support to its victims.
The presenters are visiting the United States as part of Southeast
European Communities Against Trafficking (SECAT), a program of the US
Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The
goal of the SECAT program is to strengthen cross-sectoral cooperation
among local NGOs and government institutions fighting trafficking in the
Balkans.
